Beginning Fall 2023, The Perry Youth Soccer Recreation Program will no longer have an “in house” U12 recreation league. Rather, starting Fall 2023 kids born in 2012 and 2013 will play into our Super Recreation Division. Kid’s will be placed on boys/girls teams and specific to their birth year. These teams will play into the Ohio Travel Soccer League.
This allows for:
(1) Continuation in play until High School. As of now, PTYSC does not have a place for kids to play after they age out of U12, unless they have been picked up by a Perry United Team. PTYSC simply does not have the capacity to manage a U13/U14 league. As a result, kids (typically grades 7th and 8th) are left without a place to play from 6th grade to High School. This pretty much prevents any chance they have of playing at the High School level.
(2) Player Development – Starting at U11, per US Soccer standards, kids should be playing 9v9. Kids at U13 and older should be playing 11v11 on a full-size field. Due to limitations in field space and enrollment, PTYSC does not have the ability to run an in-house 9v9 and 11v11 league.
Playing for a Super Recreational team requires a commitment by the player and family to attend practice and games as requested by the coach.
Player Placement
ALL players that register for Super Rec will be placed on a team.
Teams will be formed after registration closes.
Season Length
Super Recreational teams plays in a Spring (April-June) and Fall (Aug -Oct) season which typically lasts 8-10 weeks.
Tournaments
There are no tournament applications for Super Recreational teams.
Practices
Practice usually begins 2-3 weeks prior to the season opening game, but PTYSC coaches have the discretion to practice outside of “season”.
Travel Games
4 home games and 4 away games (typical, but not guaranteed)
Games typically play within Stark and surrounding counties on Saturday or Sundays
Uniform
Super Recreational players (only)
New players must purchase a full uniform kit*.
IMPORTANT UNIFORM REMINDER: January 2025 marks the beginning of a 2 year uniform cycle for Perry United.
*The complete uniform kit includes: (1) yellow jersey, (1) short, (1) yellow pair socks.
